ENGAGED, NOW WHAT?

He's FINALLY, FINALLY, finally proposed. You are shocked because you weren't expecting it. You're staring at your hand, the ring is blinding. You wish you had gotten that manicure you had to reschedule due to a busier than expected week but even jacked up nails couldn't sour your mood. The proposal was perfect, something out of a fairytale. You've called your mom, girls and other family and friends. You've posted a pic on every single social media platform you are on. You want this moment to last forever.

Here's the thing, it took him long enough to pop the question...  you just want to enjoy the moment, bask in the surrealness of it all, Celebrate, stare at your new bling and post cute pics on Instagram holding a mug that Reads, "Does this ring make me look engaged?" or "From Miss to Mrs.". Believe me I get it!

But I have to keep it real with you, all of the above can wait Just a little bit while you knock these 5 crucial task of off your newly engaged to-do list.

1. insure That Bling!

2. Find Yourself A Dope Planner (this is not a plug, just facts)

I Truly admire all the individuals out there that think they can plan their weddings themselves while working overtime to try and save up money to pay for everything that goes along with saying your I dos. It has happened time and time again…, brides and grooms-to-be call me months, weeks and at times a few days before their nuptials asking me to save them, Frustrated Because they are in over their heads, agitated because panic attacks have become a weekly occurrence. As an event planner i immediately go into problem solving mode but even though event planners are superheros in their own right, starting with clients from the onset makes our jobs a tad bit easier.

Now that you have a planner, take a deep breath..., I got you!

3. Determine Your Budget

You can't start the process without setting a budget, committing to the amount you intend to invest and then taking a good look at yourself in the mirror, raising your right hand and promising not to stray too far from said budget is crucial.

This is indeed one of the first keys to a truly "Happily Ever After"

4. Set A Date

Next it is time to hone in on your inner angela bassett. cook or order a great meal, Mix your partner a really good cocktail, Look Into your fiancés eyes, smile at him/her seductively and get them to commit to a date.

Be prepared to have backup dates in mind because you would be surprised how far in advance couples set their wedding date and secure a wedding venue.

Setting a wedding date or at least determining the season and month you would like to get married is pertinent because it leads us to the next step.

5. With the Help of Your Planner, Secure a Venue

As I said earlier, setting a date allows you to schedule venue tours with a date in mind. Venues will let you know from the onset whether your wedding day or weekend is taken. I have had clients book a venue two years in advance just to have their wedding date read  2-22-22.

once you have your planner, your date and venue secured, you can take a much needed breather because you will be a busy little bee for the next few months.
